My Own Family Pictures | The Breakall’s

Are your family pictures way overdue like my family? Family pictures at Tony Grove Lake with my very most favorite people.

Growing up my mom was always taking pictures. She brought her camera to all of our events and trips, she was the best at capturing our lives growing up. She often kept her camera in her car just in case. It actually drove me insane, so it’s quite funny that I grew a love for photography. Surprisingly, we hardly ever had family pictures taken growing up. The last one I remember was in the 90’s, the good ole days of studio pictures. I was probably three years old then. A few years ago, I decided our family pictures were WAY overdue. So I set up my tripod and we made it happen. However, that was six years ago, so I decided it was time for some updated photos.

We had a family get together at Bear Lake last week, I saw my opportunity and I took it. We adventured to Tony Grove for these photos. It was gorgeous and so green! Little did I know, my family would be one of the hardest groups to work with for pictures. Here’s a couple things I discovered during our family pictures:

  1. Finding outfits that work or everyone is HARD! We chose two colors, blue and white with a tiny bit of grey to add some pop.
  2. Showing up to pictures as the photographer is the easy part, it’s the getting ready that’s the real struggle. Shout-out to all of you families out there for making through this stressful phase.
  3. I’m way better at telling strangers how to pose and what to do. Trying to tell my family what to do wasn’t the easiest.
  4. Even the happiest of babies can be a struggle to keep happy during pictures.

Even though it was a bit more stressful than I had anticipated, I’m so grateful we were able to capture these memories! If you can’t tell, my nephew Blake is the family favorite. I’m glad I got to capture photos of him playing with his grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Hopefully the next time we have family pictures done it will be at my wedding with my husband…. and hopefully that’s not another 5 years from now ;).
