I’ve said it before, but I absolutely LOVE shooting at Thanksgiving Point! I’ve been so lucky that so many of my couples this year have loved the gardens and all of the tulips and blossoms as much as I do. Ashley & Kevin actually chose this location for their engagement session because they visited Thanksgiving Point at Christmastime to see Luminaria. It was a special night for the two of them and they were excited to be back here.

When I asked Ashley & Kevin how they met, they had troubling remembering a time when they hadn’t been a part of each other’s lives. The two of them were lunchroom buddies as far back as elementary school! They grew up playing tennis together, going to the movies, eating Mexican food… and both harboring a secret crush. Eventually they started dating and were high school sweethearts. From Ashley: “Now that our dreams of being married are really coming true, we can’t seem to come down off of Cloud 9! I don’t think we ever will.”

Kevin proposed after church one Sunday on a chilly afternoon spent exploring the beautiful Logan Canyon. He sneakily talked Ashley into the excursion by telling her they were meeting his sister and brother-in-law up the canyon. To her surprise, Kevin and his accomplices had arrived early and sprinkled the snow-covered path with rose petals. He took her to a pretty spot and asked her to marry him. They both say it was the happiest moment of their lives! Ashley’s ring is priceless to the couple because the center emerald-cut diamonds belonged to Kevin’s grandmother who passed away. All of the other smaller stones used to create the halo setting belonged to his mother.

Ashley found me through one of my past grooms, Travis, whom she works with. Our evening spent at Thanksgiving Point was a little worrisome because of the weather forecast. It did rain off and on throughout our session. During the short downpours, we would take cover and spend a few minutes chatting until the rain let up again. The two of them were up for anything and lots of fun!

Congratulations, Ashley & Kevin! I loved getting to know the two of you. I can’t wait for your wedding day! Especially because it’s going to be at the White Shanty, which is a bucket list venue for me.
