Spring Wedding with Cherry Blossoms and a Vintage, Heirloom Wedding Dress || South Jordan, Utah

Yesterday, I experienced my very first snow day in Utah! Schools were closed, which hasn’t happened in over a decade! We’re completely buried in snow, and I’m already longing for spring. So, today I thought I would share one of my very favorite spring weddings.

McKenzee & Matt were set up by Matt’s aunt who worked with McKenzee. Their first date was in June and they were married by the following April. Spring at the Salt Lake Temple is easily the most gorgeous time of year! The cherry blossoms are all in bloom, and the temple grounds are covered in the prettiest pink. We had a little April shower that day, but it did not dampen the spirit of celebration shared by all of McKenzee & Matt’s friends and family. After all, rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck!

The bride was so stunning in her gorgeous custom wedding gown! Her dress actually belonged to her grandmother to whom she was very close but who passed away a few years ago. As a young girl, McKenzee would try on the dress whenever she visited her grandma. She told her, “This is going to be mine someday when I get married!” It was so special for her to have something that belonged to her grandma with her the whole day. Betsy Couture redesigned the dress to make it more modern, keeping all of the original lace and adding some new tulle to create the soft, flowy skirt. Betsy works serious wonders on all of her gowns! The long, beautiful train was even completely removable. Such a cool function!

We photographed the couple’s First Look and bridals at the Utah State Capitol. I’ll be sharing more of those in a post all about the First Look soon! McKenzee & Matt had the cutest little ring ceremony at Noah’s Event Venue in South Jordan. There was a whole group of adorable flower girls involved in the ceremony who followed the bride everywhere. Their reception that followed turned into a full-blown party! They had a photo booth, donut wall, specialty drink bar, and a even a surprise flash mob with the bridal party! It was an amazing day that I will always remember!

McKenzee & Matt, thank you for trusting me to capture your best day and the wedding of your dreams! I hope you have many more happy days to come.
