This engagement session was everything I needed and more after this Covid19 lock-down. Meet Lauren and Tyler, soon to be Mr. & Mrs. Woodburn. Utah lake is the perfect location this time of year for engagement sessions! Lauren is in my LDS ward and one of my good friends.
Lauren has a group of friends that planned a date; where each girl brought a guy they knew to date one of their friends. On the date they all made dinner together and then played games. Tyler was actually paired up with someone else, but ended up sitting next to Lauren at the dinner table and then doing dishes together afterwards. Lauren and Tyler dated on and off for the next couple of months, bonding over sports, golfing, Cafe Rio and Mod pizza. Just when Lauren was starting to worry about being caught in the “friendzone”, Tyler invited her to the batting cages and a movie after. During the movie when Lauren reached for her drink, Tyler grabbed her hand and she was officially not in the friendzone anymore! After that they pretty much spent everyday together. Tyler planned the best SURPRISE proposal. Did you know proposals were even a surprise anymore?
He didn’t want Lauren to know at all, he was adamant that the proposal be a surprise. Lauren didn’t even help choose her ring, luckily Tyler had the help of Lauren’s sisters in picking out a ring, and he did good! After a REAL game, Tyler took Lauren on an adventure to an abandoned mine in Santaquin. He told her they were going to spray paint pictures for each other and then surprise one another with their pictures. Tyler’s picture definitely won against Lauren’s painting with a mural that said “Lauren will you marry me?” and Lauren was completely surprised. She said yes of course!
The way Lauren describes their love story is so sweet, “We kept dating and the more time we spent together and the longer we dated the more I liked him. I knew pretty early on I wanted to marry him, but it came in pieces. It was a reflection of everything we did together and every talk we had. We loved to do the same things, we had the same values, and we pushed each other to be our best selves.”
Lauren and Tyler are getting married on June 20th, in hopes that the temples will be reopened. I’m so excited and counting down the days to their wedding!
