Ben's side of the story:
Unexpectedly, playing volleyball one night, I found myself behind the beautiful Sierra Breshears. I went home early that night, but I really hoped to see her again so I could ask her out.
A month later, Sierra found me on Facebook using her incredible social media stalking skills. Thank goodness for those! She asked me if I wanted to go to the Institute Kick-off with her, though it really ended up being a relationship kick-off!
The very next night, I took Sierra out to dinner. We spent two and a half hours at that Thai restaurant just talking and laughing! Then, I extended the date just to spend more time with her. I fell in love with her that night.
The suspense was real prior to our second date! Could this date really be as great as the last one? In science terms, I wondered if this experiment was repeatable. To my surprise, it was! One bowl of ice cream later and with my bowling career down the drain, I found myself falling even more in love with her.
On one of our later dates, we went sledding. We crashed several times, but I secretly enjoyed it every time! It didn't take me long to realize that I wanted to spend my life with Sierra. I asked her to marry me and then two weeks later, officially proposed!
Sierra's side of the story:
The first time I talked to Ben, I was drawn to the light in his eyes. I was so disappointed that he didn't ask for my number that night playing volleyball, but I was determined that I wanted to get to know him better.
I only knew his first name, so I stalked him on LDS Tools to find his last name. Then I felt so frustrated because finding a Ben Smith in Provo on Facebook seemed impossible. Somehow, I found him and mustered up the courage to click that "Add Friend" button.
I reached out and invited him to come to Institute with me and some of my other friends to hear Tad R. Callister speak. He took the initiative from there!
I knew we would make a great couple very quickly. From our first date, I knew that we were great at communicating and that we had a LOT in common! After our second date, I came home and the words, "I love him!" slipped out of my mouth.
Every Thursday, some significant event took place, like the first time he held my hand or when he kissed me. We started talking about marriage after just a few weeks. I thought we both must be crazy! But somehow, we knew it was right. It felt like God had divinely orchestrated bringing us together.
Ben caught me off guard when he proposed on Valentine's Day. It was the only day I told him not to propose. He wanted to surprise me. He took me to a fancy restaurant and then we went on a walk along the Provo River. As we slow-danced under a lighted pavilion with a misty rain slowly falling down around us, he asked me if I knew what day it was. I knew it was the holiday, but as soon as I realized that it was also a Thursday, he was down on one knee!
We're getting married!
